Advice to the Weary

If you are a small or mid-size not-for-profit organization that is content with your funding, this is article is NOT for you.

JS Levy Associates, LLC has received many inquiries about increasing donations and balancing the source of their income  There is a universal cry in our professional field for this assistance.  What we have discovered is that there are two major management segments that need to have more focused attention.

First, NFP’s are notoriously remiss in branding themselves and marketing their brand.  We are  three organizations falling within that category.    So intent upon the delivery and expansion of their service models, each has overlooked the importance of broadening their “brand” as a first step in developing a marketing plan. Each has lacked the resources ( time and personnel) to concentrate  on the effort and has not given any thought to the question of how to manage time more productively to leverage their assets , utilize personnel creatively, nor to develop the potential resources within their, assets  Boards.

Second, it is abundantly clear that many NFP’s have neither the time nor the ability to build their networking capacity. To that end, our Team Leaders are called upon to provide the direction and scope of the possibilities.  They will guide each of the NFP’s in the direction that is essential in this age of global communication and technology.

Finally, we suggest that you review your bylaws regularly in order to keep pace with the changing dynamics of the NFP world and to support some of the steps you might need to take to enhance your fund development, Board resources and marketing needs.
